Kite Voodoo is located on the best and windiest kitesurfing spot of Portugal, on the beautiful beach of Cabedelo, in the city of Viana do castelo in northern Portugal, at only 45 min drive from Porto international airport. This spot offers amazing kiteboarding, kitesurfing, foil, wing and surf conditions, perfect for kitesurfing lessons from beginners to advanced and all the way to pro riders. Lessons take place on a large sandy beach, with one side, from where we teach, is protected from the atlantic swell by a bar and offers a flat calm water zone perfect to learn and the other parts of the beach with fun, medium to head size waves to ride or use as kickers to boost big air jumps. This spot offers perfect conditions to learn and progress to become an independent rider for any situation!
ACCES:
The spot is located just outside Viana do Castelo city. To reach it you can:
- use the boat bus crossing the Lima river departure every hour (5min)
- drive to the beach (8min). The closest parking available and free is located just next to the entrance of the Orbitur Camping.
- rent a bicycle from the city center. (15min)
VIANA DO CASTELO:
Viana do Castelo is one of the most beautiful, authentic & vibrating cities in northern Portugal. It is a great place to stay for an unforgetable kitesurf holiday.
The city is rich in places to visit, hang out & enjoy, with restaurants, bars, skate parks, wake park but also churches and monasteries, monumental fountains and water features that constitute a wealth of heritage worth visiting. In the city’s surroundings, you can take a bicycle ride on the cycle paths along the coast or the river or go for a walk on one of the many marked trails. There are also opportunities for jet skiing, sailing, rowing and canoeing on the River Lima.
WIND
All year round you can find great condition for kitesurfing, and especialy from May to September when the Nortada wind is blowing on the Portuguese coast. Plus here in Viana do Castelo, there is a local thermal wind (due to the proximity of the Lima river and the green hill around) that adds strenght to the wind, making this place the windiest spot in Portugal with an average of 20-30 knots.
Wind is very local here, and the forecast is not really accurate! When you see prevision with North wind direction, sun and temperatures above 21C be sure it will blow strong! (add 5 to 10 knots to the forecast).

TEAM
At Kite Voodoo our instructors are trained & certified by IKO (more info about IKO here) or FPVELA (more info about the portugeese sailing federation here). We teach by following these international standards and lessons program, we also love to share our passion, teach with fun, professionalism and safety.
Kite Voodoo is also an international team that can teach and speak several languages: English, French, Portugese, Spanish, German and Hungarien.

We have kites and boards adapted to students needs for a fast and easy progression.
And also specific kites and boards for rentals. (Enduro, Catalyst, Hyperlink, Edge, Wasp Ozone kites / Torque & Infinity Ozone boards, Shinn Bronq boards & strapless Duotone pro whip, pro voke boards / Foil boards).
We provide recent individual equipment as helmets, impact vests, harnesses, and wetsuits for you to be comfortable & safe to learn and ride in the best conditions.
